I teach beginning, intermediate and advanced students in intense private lessons, using traditional and non-traditional methods.   The focus can be Jazz, Classical, Brazilian Choro, Klezmer and other World musics.   I love to figure out how someone learns, how he responds to music, what methods are the most appropriate. I am a classically trained singer with a Master's Degree in Vocal Performance who lives, performs, and teaches in New Orleans. I frequently perform professionally in several genres of music, including opera, jazz, musical theatre, and pop. I also have several years of experience teaching in all of these genres. My teaching style is firm yet easygoing and fun..I expect the student to have practiced and be ready to play their homework back to me. I use repetition quite a bit but that's the best way, I find, that someone learns. I also encourage them to investigate and practice things that have not necessarily been assigned in order to see how serious they are.
