Goals are always tailored to individual student interests. I like to assign practice homework, which is a mix of technical exercises and song-based learning using student-preferred music. I love to watch students peel back the layers of the onion and discover how their favorite artists make music, from learning common chord progressions to transcribing solos note-for-note to imitating playing styles. I believe that by listening well to one another, by digging deeply into a musical vocabulary that is different from that of our upbringings, is extremely enriching, and builds bridges. I’ve performed solo and ensemble recitals in several states across the US. I’ve also studied personally with Celino and Lito Romero members of the elite classical guitar quartet “The Romeros”. I’ve performed masterclasses for The Romeros as well as other massive names in the Classical Guitar world such as: Martha Masters, Matthew Denman & Matt Palmer. Bass and guitar are both physical instruments in their own way, and getting acclimated to the feel of it is key to having success on it. For bass, I typically teach out of the Suzuki book series, while as for guitar, I use the Hal Leonard's Essential Elements, however, I am happy to teach whatever method a student or their parents feel strongly about.
