As a kid, I really disliked my piano lessons. as a teacher I want to put an emphasis on having fun in my lessons, because music, as i've come to realize, is one of the most fun activities to partake in. that being said, it is essential to know the fundamentals and techniques, so I will most likely use method books such as Alfred's or Hal Leonard's, especially for people starting fresh. Most of all the rescources I use for my students can be found for free online. The most important things for any classical guitarist are: Mauro Giuliani’s right hand arpeggio studies, Matteo Carcassi’s Etudes, Fernando Sor’s etudes among exercises I’ve learned and created personally. Other great rescources are Scott Tennant’s Book “Pumping Nylon” and Pepe Romero’s book “La Guitarra”, which are about $20 a book. Read More

I have a relaxed and fun style of teaching. I encourage the use of rudiments and fundamentals to build good playing habits and to build strength and speed. Practice is an obligatory part of learning and is expected to become routine for the student. Practice and learning will be fun! Learning to play songs that we love is the best part! The student and I will make a list of songs and styles to work towards playing. Read More

I always approach teaching music in a relaxed and fun way. With the right teacher, learning music greatly rewarding and enjoyable. My teaching style is always based around my students experience level, their goals, and learning style. I always start with activities that are within the student's abilities, and carefully progress through more challenging pieces and exercises. This way, the student will always have a challenge that is achievable, not too difficult that makes them want to quit, and not to easy that makes them bored. Read More

My teaching experience started in 2009. Since then I have consistently taught students ranging from 3 years old to wise adults over 80 years. I generally teach in my home studio because I find students benefit much more than being at their home. I make exceptions for those with busy schedules (however I highly recommend having lessons outside your home). Encouraging a personal lesson and education is one of my focuses as it tends to help the student progress and maintain a passion for the instrument and music. Read More

I have been teaching as a side-gig and hobby for almost as long as I've been playing! It started with friends in the neighborhood approaching me for advice on how to get started playing guitar. In my years in the Baltimore/DC area, I took private students for extra income outside of my dayjob. Now in New Orleans after years of grinding as a performing musician, I've increased my roster of students as a rewarding and less stressful way to have a music centered career, primarily with guitar and drums. Goals are always tailored to individual student interests. I like to assign practice homework, which is a mix of technical exercises and song-based learning using student-preferred music. I love to watch students peel back the layers of the onion and discover how their favorite artists make music, from learning common chord progressions to transcribing solos note-for-note to imitating playing styles. Very important: Students should also be prepared to be on the receiving end of some high-quality dad jokes, which may or may not be sprinkled throughout homework assignments along with salt and pepper to taste. Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
