The road to it is to raise their awareness of a bigger context. No matter if we play a concerto, a clarinet duet, or are part of a jazz ensemble, we are always part of a bigger picture. In providing another voice for the students – by playing counter point for example – and helping them over time to do the same, supporting me in any kind of music, is a great tool to feel the mutual pulse, to develop a strong sense of time and rhythm even if there is no rhythm section around. My name is Joshua. I recently graduated from Ball State University in Indiana. My passion for drumming began as a teenager, and I was fortunate enough to have a very supportive family who encouraged me to do what I loved. I will always be grateful for that. Given the right kind of support and teaching, I firmly believe that anyone with the drive to learn can have a very rewarding and fun experience with the drums. Read More

: Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! Therefore, it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. By trying to find out what inspires the student, I can successfully tailor my instruction to their wants and needs.. bottom line I'm easy to work with. Read More

For me, it's about building or finding moments. Finding out what is going to motivate you to learn that song, practice that chord, and try to instill the desire to show it off for next time. Once I find out where the student is at, wether they are learning their first chords or songs, or they have been trying for a while or just getting back to their old habit of picking up the instrument, the goal is to set the mark where one will wait eagerly for the next lesson, to show off their new found skill. First of all, I love the Classical Guitar. I believe it to be one of the most (if not the most) expressive instruments in classical music. I’ve had this intense love with the instrument since high school. Sharing my passion for the instrument and its music has been one of my dreams since I began playing. Currently, I’m working on finishing my Bachelor’s degree in Classical Guitar Performance at UNO under Dr.Jay Kacherski. Read More

For beginning children students I typically start with Hal Leonard or a similar reputable music book. Once the students has a grasp of the fundamentals we will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate to their age and skill level. For adult students, I find out what the student is interested in and create a lesson plan that is fun and challenging no matter their skill level. I studied the Suzuki method as a youngster so I understand the importance of ear training and sight reading. Read More

I offer the Suzuki method of teaching for all beginners and pair it with Essentials for Strings to engage music theory into the lessons. As the students progress there are more books to choose and duets to practice Chamber Music and more advanced techniques. For Beginning students who are children, I typically start with the Suzuki Method, and essentials for Strings. After they have graduated and begin reading and understanding the basic concepts of music , and reading we begin to play duets and test of types of music. Read More
