My teaching experience may not be centered around lessons in a private studio, but it is still centered around music and the individual student. I have extensive experience tutoring students in music theory at all levels (from basic reading comprehension to large-scale analysis of contemporary works), and through that I have come to understand that knowing the student as an individual and understanding their desires and motivations are the key to connecting with one and teaching successfully. My other main source of experience is coaching for undergraduate and graduate level vocalists and woodwind players. It requires intimate knowledge of the instruments one is working with as well as an understanding of the music that they are playing at a deep enough level to be able to communicate effectively.
I have been playing violin for over 15 years. I recently graduated from Loyola University with a Bachelor of Music degree in Violin Performance. I enjoy performing all over the Greater New Orleans area, whether it is playing for weddings, in an orchestra, or in chamber ensembles. I have had the opportunity to work with a wide variety of teachers and perform in several areas of the country, including Carnegie Hall in New York City and the Eastern Music Festival in Greensboro, NC. I absolutely love playing violin and sharing this love of music with my students. I am inspired by violinists Hilary Hahn and Stefan Jackiw.
Hi! My name is Peter and I love to play, compose and teach music. In 2013, I graduated from Princeton University with a Bachelor of Arts in Music and a Certificate in Jazz Performance. And in 2014, I completed a Masters of Music in Jazz Trombone from Stony Brook University while studying with Ray Anderson. I have over 7 years of experience teaching students of all ages, and over 10 years of experience playing in symphonic orchestras, wind ensembles, chamber orchestras, big bands, and jazz combos. I'm currently pursuing music performance and education in New Orleans, LA.
I am a recent graduate of the LSU percussion studio. I have spent the last four years becoming a trained musician and learning how to pass on my skills to others. I have played with Orchestras, Wind Ensembles, and Percussion Ensembles. I often play classical percussion (usually timpani) around town with Universities or Churches. Outside of that, I am currently playing synthesizer, singing saw, and multi-percussion in a rock band about to release its debut album. I am also in the process of starting a country-western project and I am always working on my solo avant-garde projects. I believe it is essential to every musician to try to expand the amount of styles and genres in the repertoire.
My goal is for the student to have fun and participate in the direction of their education while learning important theory and repertoire from the canon. For beginner students, I like the Rubank methods volumes 1 and 2 for fundamentals. This will be supported through tone development exercises and etudes for technique. I will introduce serious music as soon as possible commensurate with ability. Adults will be encouraged to follow their own interests, but with a continued eye on the fundamentals and canonic literature.

My daughter is extremely happy and comfortable with Rachel, and looks forward to her piano lessons every week. She is a very kind and patient teacher, always using positive reenforcement with my daughter, which makes all the difference in the world to children. We definitely are looking forward to continued piano lessons with her. So glad we found her.

He is incredibly patient and really customizes his teaching style to the child. Both of my children are learning piano with him; they have learned so much and really enjoy the lessons. In fact, my daughter asked to learn another instrument (guitar) with him and is making great progress with that, too.

Erin has been a wonderful voice/piano teacher for our 7 year old daughter. She is talented, patient, and has a wonderful demeanor. She has been consistent with her teaching in piano and voice. She keeps record of where the students leave off so that they know what to expect the following week. I would definitely recommend Erin to anyone looking for a skilled piano/voice teacher.

Caitlyn is friendly, helpful and still holds my high-school aged daughter accountable for practicing. She also makes sure the music technique is mastered correctly during the lessons - they work hard and still have a good time together. I can highly recommend her as a flute teacher. My daughter is very happy & grateful to have found Caitlyn as a teacher.

I am in my 60s and decided to get back into playing my guitar. I thought taking lessons would be a good way to formalize the endeavor. I did have some concern about whether working with a teacher would work out as I've behave only played for my own enjoyment for a long time. Peter and I have had a few lessons together and I am truly enjoying the experience. He is very supportive and flexible. We arrived at a three gold approach that is really working for me. We focus on developing a playlist, learning some of the more iconic tunes from leading artist that I would have a hard time learning on my own and developing some technical skills related to style and music theory. Now I look forward to my next lesson and am already playing better and enjoying the journey. Peter is a great teacher I'm lucky to have the opportunity to work with him.

Michael is exactly what I was looking for in a teacher. The first thing he did was to determine what I wanted to get out of lessons, and what my existing skill level is. He is now aiming me in the right direction - and he is clearly skilled, experienced and knowledgeable, in addition to being very easy to get along with. I'm very happy.

My 4-year-old has had several lessons with Martina now, and he has learned a lot. Obviously, it is challenging to teach such a young child, and he has learned quite a lot in a short time, and is very excited to learn about violin and for his lessons. I think Martina is doing an excellent job, is quite patient, and is teaching him in such a way that he can really remember his new skills from week to week. We look forward to many more lessons with Ms. Martina!

I started taking voice lessons from Ali when I was 19 and a sophomore in college. Though I was hesitant to be starting "late", I felt very comfortable with Ali and her teaching style. We identified several key issues that really made a difference and improved my voice technique. It was fun to sing popular, beautiful songs in our recital! If only I lived in Los Angeles, I would still be a student. Highly recommended!

I've always said, "It's all about the teacher." That skillful, effective teacher who can reach that child and ignite her passion, is truly a gift. Ric does that for my daughter. As a former music teacher myself, the most challenging thing in working with children is how to build their fundamental musical skills while letting them have fun and be expressive. The teacher must create a safe, supportive environment, and Ric does that. Ric immediately focuses on fundamentals of tone and technique, giving my daughter succinct instruction on how to improve, thus she can sense the improvement immediately. Ric seems extremely easy going; even when lighting a fire under her sometimes under-achieving butt, Ric never criticizes, judges or blames. He works with my child, understanding her, helping her problem solve, and even giving her the quick answer sometimes so she can move quickly and stay motivated. Ric balances fundamentals with fun and expressiveness, so my child feels as though she can 'play' and they truly make music in every lesson. I am thankful we found a good match with Ric.
Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.Ok
Are you sure that's your only availability? The more availability you easier it will be to arrange a teacher for you.
