Instruments: Piano

The key is to always to make sure that my students have a solid foundation in pianistic techniques and fundamentalsand then introduce the adequate repertoire while taking into account their sensitivity. I often use a combination of classical and modern music in order to motivate my students to practice and continue to learn while keeping the lessons engaging, challenging, and fun. Read More

Instruments: Piano

My methods vary according to the students interests and development. But I also have a guideline of references. For the beginners, I like to use Faber Faber, Boris Berlin's Four Stars, and some Alfred's piano methods. As we go to intermediate, I focus mostly on repertoire, sight reading, harmonization and, if the student likes, some improvisation. The books vary according to the student. For advanced players, the focus is in the repertoire, so probably we will be using performance editions for the repertoire, with preference for the Urtext (original text) ones. Read More

Instruments: Cello Music

Teaching and performing are what I love to do. To me it is especially rewarding to see how people (kids and adults) grow in different aspects of their lives when learning an instrument, especially the Cello. I have experience teaching in a group setting as well as in an one-to-one setting. I have been teaching Cello since I started in college and that has helped me understand how each individual has different needs and requires different methods. Read More

Instruments: Bass Guitar Double Bass

For beginning students I focus on easily accessible music theory to tackle several key musical ideas at once; notes on the instrument, key signatures and scales, and the ability to read musical pitches and rhythms in music notation. Both electric and double bass lessons will begin this way. After this, the two diverge. If classical bass is your focus then skill with the bow and orchestral techniques will be explored. Read More
