I love making music and helping students to be confident making music. I know that life can get busy and students won't always be able to practice every day, so I set realistic goals for them and emphasize that even just a little bit of (focused) practice is much better than no practice at all. The most important thing is that students feel like they are making progress and are enjoying the process, rather than checking off a box of drudgery every day just to check it off. Read More

For young beginner students, I typically use the Suzuki method, as that is the way I was trained. Ill also implement other books/techniques as I find useful, such as Feuillard, Cossmann, Duport, and Starker. However, I understand that not every student learns the same way, and I love formulating a plan that works well for each student. Students often come with on their own goals for repertoire in mind, and I wanna do my best to accommodate those. Read More

I accomodate to anyones learning habits. For young kids i find what songs tey love most and provide teaching through those songs, its incredible how fast they learn that way. Usually use books like essential elements or begginers guide. For adults i focus more on explaining the process of each thing and the whys that come with playing, making sure they open their minds to all the methods of Playing. Read More

Instruments: Clarinet Music

So many methods that I may tend to use. But generally having scale pages, etudes, maybe a ensemble/solo piece may help as well. I feel it is essential to develop skills before playing solo pieces, though slowly working through them is also tolerable. Consistent practice is key, 15 minutes to an hour each day is y general advice. It can be very efficient or it can be maybe only focusing on 3 bars. Read More

My methodology is inspired by the Suzuki method, which believes that learning music is similar to how humans learn to speak first, and write later. In the end, music is a type of language. Having said that, I always have a conversation with my students, and/or their parents, to learn what artists they listen to, what their favorite songs are and what goals they want to achieve. As a result, my lessons are catered distinctively to each unique student, but what they all have in common will be a passion for music! Read More

Instruments: Piano

I have used Hal Leonard and Bastien. If the parent has a older method book they wish to use I start there and fill in as I see needed. I encourage a slow start to get all the basics understood, then progress at the student's own pace and interests. Handouts and charts are supplemented as most students can't afford all the music books requested in a series. If a student feels frustrated then a short walk from piano to the other side of the room shaking out the arms and fingers gets us back on track. Read More

I am a classical saxophonist and composer. In 2018, I graduated from University of Arizona with a Bachelor of music degree in music performance: Composition emphasis. In the coming fall 2019, I will become a graduate composition major student and continue my study of saxophone performance and composition in the next two years. In June, 2018, I went Iowa City for the American Saxophone Academy, and had masterclass with Kenneth Tse, and Otis Murphy. Read More

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
