I teach the beginning students with Essential Elements 2000: Eb Alto Saxophone, Book 1. It has the fingering charts for the student to use in practice. The playful tunes are good to work in lessons. For medium to advanced level, I will use Selected Duets by H. Voxman, Daily Studies for All Saxophones by Trent Kynaston, Ferling Etudes book, etc. I encourage the student to practice both technique (Scales, thirds, long tone exercise, tonguing) and etudes on daily basis. Growing up in a family of musicians meant that I was always helping out in the music school run by my parents; as a violin teacher, ensemble coach and a practice supervisor. I am extremely dedicated to my students. Understanding how exciting it is to play with accompaniment, I have played piano for multiple student recitals in order for them to learn collaborative skills as well. The piano is also a great way to teach harmony, music theory and improvisation because of its a visual and kinaesthetic elements. When a piano is not available, I make arrangements in my notation software, so that they can still gain the skills and experience, therefore having the music making process a more emotionally rewarding activity.
