I teach with an emphasis on tone and sound production. I believe that once we know what sound we want to create we are better able to physically make it happen. Through this ideology I use the Suzuki method and like to prioritize listening and playing by ear before note reading when the students are young beginners. For beginning students it is essential to practice rudiments with a metronome. I will also start you out with basic 4/4 drum beats and explain to you the importance of balance and the back beat. The sooner a student learns proper posture and good technique the sooner they will be winning the battle of the bands.
