Instruments: Piano Violin
I stress the basics: scales, arpeggios and chords for piano and scales and double stops for violin. In regard to the piano, I have students practice each hand alone before combining them. Generally two pieces are assigned for students to work on and that work is continued for several weeks. I emphasize sight reading and rhythm. These are two aspects of music that are difficult for many. In regard to reading, the names and purposes of the various signs and symbols must be learned. Read More
Instruments: Drums Mallet Percussion Orchestral Percussion Latin Percussion Djembe
We play the full drum set right away, at the first lesson. It is not necessary to own a drum set for 3-4 months, in which time students practice at home on couches or beds where pillows represent the different parts of the drum set. I can offer advice when it comes to equipment purchases. I have a method in place for my beginners: a combination of reading, technique and coordination exercises, jamming with favorite songs, and studying their favorite drummers. Read More
Instruments: Drums Music
From beginner to advanced, I believe in the classic's like " Ted Reed's Syncopation ", " Stick Control " " The Drummer's Complete Vocabulary As Taught by Alan Dawson ". I believe the best tool is MUSIC. Playing along with music or musicians will ultimately help the most. But fundamentals are a must. Push/Pull or Open/Close Technique will help develop hand speed around the drum set. Finger technique will help with fast drum patterns and single stroke roll speed. Read More

By setting realistic goals and steady encouragement, I can help my students navigate through their musical journey. Read More
Instruments: Piano Saxophone Clarinet
This is important for students of all ages and skill levels and is something students can forever practice and improve upon. I also focus part of the lesson on learning various scales, arpeggios, and other theory based materials. Lastly, I like for students to work on real songs that can be used for performance during every lesson. Thus, the 3 areas I focus on are breathing and overall sound, theory and technique, and perfomance repetoire. Read More
Instruments: Piano Guitar Violin Saxophone Bass Guitar Organ Acoustic Guitar
To be honest, I never had a formal teaching experience as a music teacher since it is more like a hobby to me. I pursued a different career but music has always been part of my life and my burning passion for it never ceased. When I was a kid, I performed couple of piano recitals, and after several years, I eventually made my mom proud by playing the piano/organ in our church. Read More
Instruments: Piano Voice Violin
I love helping my students develop their music talents and skills! At each weekly lesson, students learn new concepts, materials, and songs. Goals are set with the student at these lessons. I make sure each student is excited about and engaged by finding songs that they want to learn. Read More
