I believe that there is no "cookie-cutter" way to teach music. It is a very creative art-form which calls for room for creativity. My teaching experience dates back to the early 2000s, I began teaching private lessons part time. In 2009, I began teaching for a local performing arts school full-time. Among the accomplishments of my prior students, I have 3 who have graduated and attended Berkeley School of Music in Boston, 1 graduated from New York Film Academy and is working off Broadway, 1 who graduated from Pace University then went on to perform on Broadway and now is performing along side Rod Stewart, I have 2 who are now teaching music, and a number of others who are in college, have graduated, or are recording, writing and/or performing nationally and internationally. I have been teaching for nearly as long as I've been playing. In 2017, I graduated Mansfield University with a Bachelor's degree in Music Business while focusing on Percussion. Though I began playing drum set at the age of 5, I've grown to perform and teach in all areas of percussion. I have been fortunate enough to tour the east coast with various bands and have performed in notable venues such as The Orpheum Theatre in Boston, the House of Blues in Myrtle Beach SC, Sloppy Joe's in Key West FL, and Carnegie Hall. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! Therefore, it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. By trying to find out what inspires the student, I can successfully tailor my instruction to their wants and needs. Read More

No matter my students age or initial skill level, whether they are a college student, a child, or an adult, I work to bring out their potential and guide them towards a fresh passion for music. I treat each student as their own individual and guide them along at their own pace. Each lesson, I set whatever goals I believe they can reach by next lesson, and I encourage them to experiment or find music they're interested in to make each lesson a fun experience. Read More

My teaching experience dates back to my first year in Yamatai. As a more advanced percussionist, I took it upon myself to assist my fellow new recruits with learning the material outside of regular practice times with the Musical Director. With percussion, we found that taking a piece and breaking it into small sections that were easily repeatable gave the best results. I took these techniques over to the drum set when the time came, and found ways to make simple drum rhythms more interesting and engaging. Read More
Instruments: Piano Keyboard
I was born in New Bedford, MA to a musical family. I began piano study at age six and eventually decided to seek a degree in music, with an emphasis in piano performance. My love for the instrument is as a teacher, and it is that love for teaching that brought me to be a classroom teacher of general music for ten years. I have served as a church musician, both at the pipe organ and the piano, and I have also been a choral accompanist for college and community ensembles. Read More

Im big on using a metronome for all students and for them having a binder to keep all their papers. I find that if students can get down a sense of rhythm everything than falls into place which is where the meternome comes in. For instance learning a song well get down first the groove or the flow and rhythm of the song and than we work on cleaning up mistakes to make the song more accurate. Read More
