My first priority when I meet a student is to nurture and begin to stoke their own fire and love for rhythm, music and the drums. I want the student to be happy, and to have fun. Progress is obviously one of my primary goals as well, however I don't believe a student can begin to make valid musical progress if they are not enjoying themselves. I belive I have crafted a perfectly balanced approach to teaching - I know exactly how to tailor to the needs of each student, and exactly how to work at their rate of learning. Read More

Instruments: Guitar Bass Guitar Double Bass

My experience as a music educator started in high school when my band director sent a few middle school bass and guitar students my way, at which point I discovered a great love for teaching. Since then I have taught several electric and upright bass students throughout my time as a Berklee student, as well as rhythm section master classes. I'm experienced in teaching students of all ability levels in subjects such as technique, rhythm/ear training, sight reading, music theory, and composition. Read More

Instruments: Piano

I am a motivated instructor who wants to bring the joy of music to my students. I graduated from Berklee College of Music with a Bachelor of Music in Performance. I have had some fantastic journeys so far as a musician performing all over the world since when I was young, and performing at Boston Symphony Hall was definitely the most memorable experience. I believe that I will advance my career even further as a musician, and I hope my passion and energy toward music will inspire my students to grow together. Read More

Instruments: Piano Clarinet

My teaching experience began in 2008 when I was in high school. I began teaching private lessons and quickly was asked to substitute for my teachers and to provide group technique classes at the local high school. I continued teaching through college, and opened my first full-time private studio in Boston, MA in 2015. Currently my studio has twenty students, and is always growing! Read More

Instruments: Piano Cello

I am trained in the Suzuki method and will typically start my beginning cello students in this if they are not already interested in another method. If you are interested in a different method I will typically alter my teaching to accommodate. Early lessons typically work on establishing a strong technical foundation so the student will be able to pursue music that speaks to them. Pianists will typically begin with Faber's early music books. Read More

Instruments: Piano

My goal of teaching is to develop students so they can proceed to a professional study in music and enjoy the music for the rest of life. It is important that students should be trained in a professional way no matter what their career is going to be. I will not force any student to do anything, however, he or she will be strongly encouraged to practice as instructed. The lessons for young kids are always relaxing, and I will plan to put more or less content depending on their mood. Read More

Instruments: Voice

I strongly believe that every human being is capable of singing. Each person has something to say with their own unique sound. To get that sound out we just need to revert back to the simple tools that we all possess from speech, such as yells or cries, shouts, sirens, slides, and inflection. By taking these sounds that we already know how to make unconsciously and elongating them into words, we have healthy singing. Read More

If you have a Music Degree, what is it in (Performance, Education, Musicology, Theory, Composition, etc) and why did you choose that degree?
- My music degree is in music production and music business. There reasons why i chose those two are very simple. In any art, theres a performance side, and a business side. The reason for both of those, is because thats how we’re abl to negotiate different deals, and keep the business growing and expanding. As far as music business goes, its important to know the little ins and outs of the industry that we’re in. For music production, there are many avenues that one can take to become an active music producer. Having taken courses for music production, it gives me an insight to many different areas of the production side of music, and lets me understand the capabilities thag it can bring.

What does a normal practice session look like for you?
- Normal practice for me, is pluging in headphones, and playing to records, while implemening different ideas. I got this routine from my peers at Berklee College of music. What this does for us is, it creates an atmosphere of what music should sound like when playing live. It also allows drummers to build a great foundation for time, and pocket presence. There will come a time when many of us should be in tune with how and what we play, and for when we play it. Its crucial that these things are often remembered and put to use.

What do you think is the hardest thing to master on your instrument?
- In my opinion, the hardest thing to master on my instrument is, finding your identity. Being abke to have a sound that you like and that you can relate too, is one of the most important things for a musician.

Do you use specific teaching methods or books? (Ex: Alfred, Bastion, Suzuki, Hal Leonard) Why did you choose them if you did?
- In beginning stages, I use a freeform style of teaching. Its where we get the oppurtunity to understand what the student can and ir cannot skdo. From there, we work on the desired area of interest for the student(s) and begin to develop their feel, style, pocket, ear, and sight-reading (aka, fundamentals).

How do I know if my child is ready to start lessons?
- You will known if your child is ready to begin, simply by understanding their interest in music. If you see that they are very intrigued and have a strong liking for something, than thats when you can see that they may be interested in taking that fascination further.

When will I start to see results?
- You will start to see results, as wuickly as the same day. Many people think that learning is slow and tedious (which it can be at times.) However, with music, little progress is better than no progress. The results can be small or seem minute at times, but thise are where you learn the fundamentals.

Why did you choose your primary instrument?
- I chose drums because, when I was a child, my mother gifted me with my own drumset. She saw something in me and believed that it was her duty to bring that gift into fruition (ans she did.) Its because of her, that I owe my successes.
