My methods adapt to each student, their age and their level. The books I use go from the Suzuki books to the traditional Fouillard, Popper or Sebastian Lee methods. The repertoire would also depend on the student needs and the type of music he/she wants to learn. The age of the student is not relevant to me. For intermediate students, I use the Standard of Excellence book 2, and for the advanced students, I use the Standard of Excellence book 3. I introduce solo repertoire to the middle and advanced students. I will find what will suite the students. For beginning students I focus on easily accessible music theory to tackle several key musical ideas at once; notes on the instrument, key signatures and scales, and the ability to read musical pitches and rhythms in music notation. I am a graduate student in Vocal Performance at LSU who is excited to start a vocal studio in my new city of Baton Rouge. A lifelong musician, I have been singing for as long as I can remember.
