I believe that the overarching goal of music is not to become "successful" or to become a virtuoso, but to bring joy into your own life. This is why I create a unique curriculum for each student that is designed to meet their wants and needs as musicians. For example: if the goal of a student is to become a guitarist in a performing band that creates original music, I will emphasize song writing, improvisation, and ear training that is required to become that type of musician. For the past 5 years I have taught 100+ students from a wide range of ages (5-60+). I have taught subjects such as Piano, Composition, Songwriting, Music Theory, Ear Training, Aural Skills, Music History, and Film Music, among others. I have a strong background in all these subjects, and have found that integrating different styles and types of musical knowledge into the lessons helps make your learning engaging and motivating. I am a patient and supportive teacher who tailors his instruction to each student's experience, age, and needs. Read More

I love the process of learning and broadening their horizons. Nobody has the same process, its always different. which is even more exciting for me being apart of it. which is why I encourage people to always have goals. If you set goals and you strive for them you will always blow past them. I always Acknowledge accomplishments. That gives more fuel for the student to be more eager to learn more. Read More

I am a very motivated instructor who really loves helping students of all ages. I am orginally from the Midwest and moved to New York City to persue opera performing. Recently, my family and I relocated to the Buffalo area and I am looking forward to working with some of the local musicians. This past year I debuted with Buffalo's Opera Sacra for their production of Maria Stuarda. I had the honor of holding the title role and I am currently working with them on other projects. Read More

I like to have a nice blend between two general areas of study with my students. I ideally like to spend half of the lesson time focusing on the more academic side of things and the other half on just playing tunes. Academic material would include things like sight-reading and basic music theory to truly educate my student about music while playing tunes (of the student's choosing) is a way to make it more of a fun environment. I feel that having this balance will alow me to train my students with a proper education while still being relaxed and having fun. Read More

For younger students I employ the Suzuki Method which comprises a series of books and particular approach to teaching that I've found to be quite effective. The books provide a very well thought out sequence of pieces that help the student learn all of the necessary skills to play the guitar in the context of actual music rather than abstract exercises, and the method encourages a lot of parental involvement which helps to make at home practice (the most important part of learning any instrument) much more effective. I started teaching a year ago with mainly students who were beginners or advanced beginners! It was definitely a challenge at first due to the fact I was never taught how to teach. So I did my research and found different strategies on how to teach and after that it became very simple! As time went on, I discovered that my approach was very aggressive and unclear! Especially with the very young ones. Read More
