I am a creative and encouraging instructor who loves helping students discover their own abilities. I have been playing drums for over 13 years, and have been in numerous projects in a range of genres in recent years, even including some contributions to a film score. Growing up in a family of musicians and teachers, a love for music and music education is baked into my heart. Typically, I first like to have the student play something they want to play for me - anything they know or like to play! From here, I can take that information and use it to form a plan and we can address fundamentals or skills that need to be worked on. I firmly believe that fundamentals are incredibly important to playing the instrument at the highest level. The voice is the most personal of all instruments. No matter what level or age you are, singing is a powerful way to portray emotions and stories. I love tailoring each lesson for each student to ensure that they are enjoying themselves and acheiving their goals in a healthy way. I work very closely with my students to give them the freedom to sing the pieces they are interested in while also offering repertoire that challenges and encourages vocal growth. Read More

Instruments: Clarinet

For all experience levels, long tones are essential to a good playing foundation. Making long tones a regular part of daily practice is key to developing a strong sound and extended lung capacity. Beginners focus on embouchure, hand position, correct fingerings, note reading, and basic rhythms. Intermediate and advanced players work on learning major and minor scales, etude studies and a variety of solo clarinet repertoire. I teach the CAGED method on guitar, by which all chord forms and most tonal scales are based on 5 easy chord shapes, C,A,G,E, D. I will continue to ask students what their goals are and reach those goals, while learning basic fundementals of reading music. I have several other reccomended texts and resources to help students. I also teach them how to transcribe their favorite songs and some methods for going about that. Read More

Im a passionate and personable instructor who loves working with beginning intermediate and advanced students. In 2009, I graduated from the University of Missouri with a masters degree in music composition and a focus on music theory pedagogy. I teach piano, violin, and viola. I have conducted youth and adult choirs and a youth orchestras for over a decade. I love teaching private lessons. It allows me to tailor exercises, methods, and pieces of music to each student.
