While studying primarily with Ben Toth and Tom Kolor, she has worked with a number of other teachers specializing in different areas. This has given her a diverse knowledge in world music knowledge and playing abilities. Notable teachers include Joe Galiota (African drumming), Shane Shanahan (Middle Eastern hand drums), Rogerio Boccato (Brazilian hand drums and samba), and Dave Samuels (Caribbean Jazz). Secondary classical percussion instruction was provided by Al Lepak (timpani), John Bacon (drum set), and Michael Burritt (marimba).Though primarily a percussionist, Melanie is also an active violinist and vocalist. She held the principal second violin position with the UB Symphony Orchestra and frequently performs in small ad hoc ensembles for weddings and parties. She sang in two contemporary a cappella groups: her collegiate group Vocal Explosion! and the Hartford Wailers, a CASA League group based in Hartford, CT. She also was a member of the Hartt Chorale for 3 years.
As a licensed Simply Music teacher, I take a very unconventional approach to teaching piano, and the results have been great! One key component of this method is to delay the reading process for about a year, using this opportunity to learn music in a more natural way. Without being tied to the page, the quality of the music that my students learn from the very beginning is of a very high quality and is very mature-sounding. Another important part of my studio is small group classes, there is no reason that piano needs to be a solitary activity! Though I do not require group lessons, the students that have chosen to join a small group have actually progressed considerably faster than those having solo lessons.
I love seeing students grow and develop as musicians. Therefore, I set realistic goals and expectations for the student. I encourage them to explore the material covered during lessons as well as make discoveries on their own. By finding out what inspires the student, I can successfully tailor my instruction to meet their musical goals.
As long as I have been playing ive been teaching. I actually surpassed my music teachers in elementary middle and high school and taught myself much of what I know through materials avialable to me at the school. I taught my recorder teacher how read and play the alto recorder and read bass clef. From then I had multiple teaching oppotunities such as youth groups, adult worship bands and private lessons. I telll anybody who is serious about learning music and instruments that time put in is a key component of succeeding while having fun at the same time. My goal is to teach according to my students needs, everybody is unique and learns in their own way. I teach people of all ages and lookfard to exploring the music word with you.
I am a guitarist based out of the Seattle area and my specialty is in vocal jazz accompaniment. I graduated from the University of Southern California in August of 2015 with a BA in Music with Cum Laude Honors. I pride myself in being a supportive and unselfish musician and accompanist, having nearly a decade of experience performing jazz in both the Seattle and Los Angeles areas. I am an accompanist at Cornish College of the Arts in the Jazz Voice Department, accompanying students in lessons and classes taught by both Kelly Ash and Johnaye Kendrick. I currently maintain a busy schedule accompanying jazz vocalists throughout the Seattle area as it is something that I take much pride in and am very passionate about!

The benefits music lessons offer are endless. Not only will students develop a knowledge of music, but that knowledge will carry over into all areas of life. Students who study music have been shown to do better on math, science, and language tests. This knowledge of music also fosters an appreciation for the arts, which grows with understanding.
Students taking lessons will have the chance to share their new found skills with family and friends at one of our various recital locations. Performing for a live audience enhances the student's excitement and joy for playing. Performers include a wide range of Musika's students from beginners to advanced, and ages 4 through adult.
In home lessons are a convenient option for improving your musical skills, and are virtually the same in every aspect as lessons taught in a studio. Lessons are usually taught once a week and significant progress can be made in a short time. Of course, teachers will suggest that students practice every day for the best results.
Musika understands that students want to feel safe before having a teacher come into their home, or before going to a teachers studio. Therefore, Musika hand screens all teachers and performs background checks using Intellicorp, a leading provider of screening solutions.

Dave is a fantastic teacher. He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to students that I think is invaluable. At the same time, this does not limit him from working with beginning students. He is very communicative with the parents as far as schedule changes. We are so grateful to have found him!!

My daughter really enjoys her lessons with Pavel. She is an absolute beginner and Pavel is right with her as she learns the basics. She is completely engaged and always looks forward to her lesson. He packs a lot of learning into their 30 minute time slot - he gets right to it as soon as he walks in the door! He is a great teacher - we highly recommend!

My 4-year-old has had several lessons with Martina now, and he has learned a lot. Obviously, it is challenging to teach such a young child, and he has learned quite a lot in a short time, and is very excited to learn about violin and for his lessons. I think Martina is doing an excellent job, is quite patient, and is teaching him in such a way that he can really remember his new skills from week to week. We look forward to many more lessons with Ms. Martina!

Henry has been a great piano teacher since I started lessons about a month ago, and he is helping me realize a lifelong dream. He is patient, plays beautifully, is easy to learn from and a very nice person. I took lessons as a child for a year or so, but never followed up over the years. I always said that I would once I retired and found the right instructor. That time is now. Thank you Henry and Musika!

I have known Erin since I attended graduate school at the Hartt School in Connecticut. Last year she came to the college I teach at to give a master class and talk about her experiences as a musician abroad. She has proven that she is a capable and wonderful musician and educator. I highly recommend studying with her if you're lucky enough to have the opportunity!

Usually I don't write reviews. I am compelled to write for Feng. I've experience finding/working with many music teachers over the years for different instruments (piano, flute, sax) for kids. I think Feng is the best, he is so passionate about music, he encourages the kids. He teaches thoroughly - you can tell he knows lot about saxophone. I would definitely recommend Feng!!

“My son has been instructed by Mark for almost four years. Mark is an outstanding teacher. His credentials are by themselves impressive, but his ability to relate his knowledge to kids is even more so. Connor's ability to understand and read music is fantastic. Mark also knows the performance side of playing drums and has encouraged Connor to actually incorporate his knowledge to play alone and in a band. He is patient and encouraging which is what motivates Connor to work and practice. He is a mentor as well as a teacher. He is superior at what he does and we highly recommend him.” Ro J.

“My son and I have been taking lessons with Lynn for 5 or 6 years now. She is very patient with younger students (& older students having "senior moments"). She is also flexible in her lessons in that if we want to work on theory, jazz, rock, blues, she will cater to our requests.” – Karl B., C.P.A., Aug 2015

I started taking voice lessons from Ali when I was 19 and a sophomore in college. Though I was hesitant to be starting "late", I felt very comfortable with Ali and her teaching style. We identified several key issues that really made a difference and improved my voice technique. It was fun to sing popular, beautiful songs in our recital! If only I lived in Los Angeles, I would still be a student. Highly recommended!
Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.Ok
Are you sure that's your only availability? The more availability you easier it will be to arrange a teacher for you.
