I'm a passionate and well-educated guitar instructor driven to help guide students through their musical journey. I'm currently working towards an Associates of Arts in music degree at Shoreline Community College and I have over a decade of experience playing guitar with a background in everything from jazz, blues, rock, to metal classical. In spite of this informality, they can rely on my knowledge and experience in the music world. I now teach successfully on Skype or Zoom with distant learners. My students with regular practice (so important) can progress from beginner to advanced. I began teaching in high school, working with elementary and middle school students. Through this experience, I discovered my passion for helping others discover music. In my first full-time teaching position, I was able to to lead the Greenland (AR) High School band to the ASBOA Sweepstakes Award, the highest honor for a school band in that state. Rather than dictate to students exactly what and how they should practice, I always use my students' curiosity as a guide, and work on what is most interesting to them.
