Course Work: Shoreline Community College
I'm a passionate and well-educated guitar instructor driven to help guide students through their musical journey. I'm currently working towards an Associates of Arts in music degree at Shoreline Community College and I have over a decade of experience playing guitar with a background in everything from jazz, blues, rock, to metal & classical. I've had the opportunity to play on stage with artists of many different styles spanning from rapper Macklemore, to heavy metal drummer Jean-Paul Gaster of Clutch.
I've been teaching guitar since I was in high school. I love the process of helping individuals develop their own musical talent and skill and make the connections that unlock their creativity. Teaching gives me the opportunity to be a part of something bigger than myself; something that can be an enriching and incredibly important part of someone's life. I'm driven by the desire to inspire my students, and in return also be inspired by them. I want to guide them on their journey to becoming a musician.
My teaching method consists of a focus on what the student is interested in, using what the student enjoys as a means of developing a comprehensive understanding of music and the guitar. I believe this method keeps students engaged with playing, and makes lessons and practicing fun, rather than feel like a chore. Lessons will deal with subjects such as scales, technique, and music theory. Although they may be tedious, I believe these things are important core elements to really understanding the guitar and music in general, and I would teach them in a way that would be fun for the student.
I strive to develop my students with a deep understanding of the guitar and music, doing so in a way that moves at the students pace and makes lessons fun and the proses of learning approachable. Keeping a balance of challenge and discipline with fun and the joy of playing music is how I believe students grow to have a passion and love for music that lasts them a lifetime. Students will focus on projects such as learning their favorite songs as well as pieces that I might assign, really delving into the music, learning to both play and understand it well so that students can feel accomplished.

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
OkAre you sure that's your only availability? The more availability you easier it will be to arrange a teacher for you.
