My method is to build a solid repertoire list in whatever style of music the student prefers, and then work to a clear understanding of the characteristics necessary to sing in that style. I love having conversation with students to get to know them and find ways the music can relate to them. It also helps me make my teaching more relatable to them. Back to my undergraduate days, I was running my home studio for 5 years in Beijing. I obtained my Master’s degree in Piano Performance and Pedagogy at Ball State University.
