For young beginning students, I really like to emphasize the fundamentals using whatever book the student uses for their band class. Once they get a good grasp on the fundamentals, then I start to introduce some solo repertoire appropriate to their skill level. I began taking piano lessons at the age of 6, and began teaching piano at the age of 18. I have had experiences playing for churches, and other instrumentalists. In the first lesson I usually give a set of ways to practicing that I believe will help each student succeed.
