Instruments: Piano
My greatest passion is music and teaching. I hold two degrees in Music (AA, and BM, piano performance), and I am currently pursuing a MM in Piano Performance at Cleveland State University. I have performed in various venues in Texas. I have a strong background in both solo and collaborative performance. Read More
Instruments: Trumpet French Horn
I began teaching private French horn students in 2011, and I have been teaching music in various ways since then. I have been both a general music and a band teacher, working with students in Preschool through Eighth Grade. With my private students I emphasize regular practice as the best way to improve and keep having fun with an instrument. I also seek out opportunities for my students to perform and attend concerts that may widen their musical horizons. Read More
Instruments: Piano Violin Cello Viola Trumpet Trombone Saxophone Flute Clarinet Euphonium French Horn Tuba Mallet Percussion Orchestral Percussion Oboe Bassoon
I began teaching privately as a high school student, working with begnning students at the middle school. I have taught privately in my home and in students' homes since graduating from college. Regular practice is very important and something I emphasize with my students. I like to include a mixture of classical and modern music in my lessons, so that students enjoy what they are learning and playing. If a student does not enjoy their time playing their instrument, they will not want to put the practice in and lessons will become a point of argument. Read More
Instruments: Drums
Hello, my name is Antoine and playing the drums is my passion! Having graduated from the Berklee College of Music in Boston with my music diploma in Performance, I had the privilege to study with the top musicians in the world. I have performed all over the world aboard 2 Holland America Line cruise ships, playing nightly with a show band. I have also played all around Boston with Grooversity, an Afro-Brazilian drumming group. Read More
Instruments: Voice Music
I love to provide each student with the instruction that best fits their goals and need! Regarding my methodology, I always adapt my classical vocal technique to the needs and the musical tastes of the students. My main goal is to help students achieving their goals, whatever they are! For beginning students who are children, I typically start with easy technical exercises. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce some solo repertoire appropriate for their first recital performance. Read More
Instruments: Voice Saxophone Flute Clarinet Ukulele Recorder Piccolo
I am just a guide in the process of their musical and characteristic developments. Because of this, I like to create custom lesson plans based on the student's needs. I believe it is important to know what the student wants to accomplish. If the student would like a more traditional style lesson, I have a variety of method books that I like to use.--Below are some examples of methods that I like for the flute:--Beginners: Essential Elements (I have found that this series is just one of the best out there for young musicians that are just getting started!) I would also add in short solo pieces to develop tone.--Intermediate: Mel Bay The Flutist's Companion with additional work on duets, rhythm worksheets, and solo and ensemble preparation.--Advanced: Trevor Wye Practice Books Omnibus Edition with work in sight reading, orchestral excerpts, solo pieces, duets, and ensemble practice. Instruments: Clarinet
I have been teaching since I was in Highschool, specifically tutoring younger kids while I was a senior. From there, I helped with sectionals while I was at Baldwin Wallace University. When I started at the University of Akron, I accepted a full Clarinet assistant ship, teaching private lessons to Undergraduate Clarinetists and coaching chamber music. Nothing brings me more joy to see my students learning something knew, struggling to learn a new concept and finally understanding it (i.e.- learning the proper way to breathe). Read More
