For beginning students, I typically start with Piano Adventures.  Advanced beginners usually have other excellent methods such as Bastien, Schuam, or Alfred, and I use any method which is acceptable.  Adults, or more advanced students, usually have a particular interest in a certain style of music or keyboard skill which I help cultivate.  Though nothing matches the sound, subtlety and feel of an acoustic - the essence of the art of the classical tradition - I encourage students to use MIDI-aided learning tools to develop their sight-reading skills. Teaching beginning Clarinet is one of my specialties. Generally speaking, I use the Belwind Band builder and Standard of Excellence method books to teach fundamentals of the Clarinet. I also mix my own teaching style, especially forming an embouchure (how one's lips and teach rest on the mouth piece). I believe it is very important to teach embouchure, breathing and posture to ensure great habits once the beginning student progresses. Read More

I believe it is important to know what the student wants to accomplish. My teaching experience dates back to my college days when I began tutoring other students in 2001. After graduating in 2003 I transitioned to private lessons and have been teaching ever since.
