I'm a motivated and passionate teacher who loves to work with students, sharing my love for all kinds of music. I started playing piano when I was seven, and have regularly studied music under the tutelage of several wonderful and knowledgeable teachers ever since, and I continue taking private guitar lessons even today. I received a Bachelor of Music degree in Commercial Music from Belmont University in 2017. Playing with a wide variety of ensembles in a wide variety of styles, including rock/metal outfits, pop acts, country bands, jazz and fusion groups, and classical guitar duos and trios, has definitely been one of the defining aspects of my life-long music education. I like to take a very personalized approach to teaching and my methods can vary greatly depending on my students goals and interests. I think the most important aspect of learning the guitar is enjoying the process of practicing the instrument. Because of this, I base my lessons on what each individual student desires to learn, teach them concepts in the context of the music that they love, and give them the technical and theoretical concepts behind the music they're passionate about. Music inspires every human being in some capacity. Not everybody can appreciate all genres of music. While there are melodies and harmonies that are pivitol for creating a strong foundation as a musician, I prefer to work with the student in a genre that will inspire the student to want to practice. If there is desire to practice, the student will continue to grow musically. Therefore, I don't want to force a student to play Mozart when it might be the music of Bruce Hornsby that inspires the student to live another day and vice versa. Read More

I began teaching private lessons while in college, teaching classical, electric and acoustic guitar. For the past 5 years that I have been in Nashville I have been teaching again for the last 2. I have experience in teaching students as young as 5 and as old as 65. There is no age limit on learning! Something I was always told in my lessons both, as a teenager and in college was that it is vastly more important to practice a little each day than to try and cram a marathon session into one day.
