Since then, I have taught in church programs (choral students working on solo voice) as well as in the university setting (student teaching and TA voice class support). I love to understand fully what draws each student to music and look to keep instruction and practice fun and relaxed. Music is a lifelong passion and I want to create an atmosphere that encourages creativity and a desire to seek out other musicians. My teaching style is not rigid and I am not afraid to experiment to see what each student responds best to. I teach vocal students from ages 6-adult. We work on breathing techniques, music theory, interpretation, and style. I like students to sing their favorite styles. I also expose them to songs that I feel would be appropriate for their growth. We also work on performance and auditions! My teaching dates back to my early career as a gigging musician. If there were to be a rehearsal before a show, I would show my bandmates how a certain song were to go. Eventually, I decided to do some private guitar teaching gigs besides making a living as a gigging musician. My first teaching gig was for one of my cousins whose son wanted to learn guitar.
