I have been teaching private lessons since 2009. I specialize in commercial styles (pop, rock, jazz, country, etc.) as well as musical theater. I encourage creativity with my students and through unusual means I have found success in getting those good habits down. As a songwriter and long time frontman I support and help with my students desire to write their own music and find their performance style. My students in Nashville('10-'18) joked I give rockstar lessons not voice lessons. Read More

Learning music has change my life and continues to do so. I want to share my experiences with others and hopefully make a difference in their life. My goal as an instructor is to help students gain the necessary skills & knowledge to further themselves as growing musicians. I do this by providing a unique & exciting learning experience that best fits each individual student. I encourage student to not only learn how to read the notes, but to learn music as a language and an art. Read More

I have taught off and on throughout my horn career with emphasis mainly on performance of orchestral repertoire. I have performed in numerous community bands as well in the Detroit metro-area. I worked on the Beethoven Horn Sonata OP.#17 with a Piano major when I lived in San Francisco. I have been playing the horn since 1966. Read More
Instruments: Piano Trumpet
For beginner students, I would definitely use Hal Leonards Essential Elements for trumpet (Books 1-4). It is always best for new students to start with identifying the notes and the rhythms, along with learning some fundamental exercises to fully master the trumpet. For more advanced/intermediate students (7th or 8th grade), I would start by giving out solo pieces to better prepare for solo and ensemble competitions, all the way till their final year at high school. Instruments: Drums
I take everything in steps with students no matter what the age. My biggest approach I take to lessons is figuring out what the student wants to learn. If someone comes to me wanting to dive deeper into the styles of bands like Rush, we might not focus much time on snare solos (for example) because thats not what the student is interested in learning. I'm not saying that snare solos are not important, but I've come to realize that people will work harder at the things they're PASSIONATE about learning and not just the things they "should" learn. Instruments: Piano
At the age of three, I developed an interest in music, and spent a lot of time with my little keyboard plucking out songs I heard on tv. Luckily for me, my parents recognized my interest and enrolled me in lessons where I learned to read music before being able to read the words on the pages. I continued my lessons for 15 years with a focus in classical music, earning high marks in competitions. Read More
