Nothing is more rewarding than seeing a student develop a passion for music; a student who practices and looks forward to coming to music lessons is a joy to teach. Each student must progress at his or her own pace; therefore realistic goals must be set at each lesson. Rewarding students for reaching practice goals makes students eager to learn more, and seeing how far they have progressed makes student's proud of their accomplishments. Read More

The students interests guide what I teach. All students are taught the importance of playing in time and listening to the other band members. All are instructed in having an attitude of service toward their current or future band mates. Bass players and guitar players will be taught theory. I have created a progressive test which will tell me how much Music Theory knowledge they have and serves as a guide to deepen that knowledge. Read More

I've been passionately involved in music for as long as I can remember. In 2015 I graduated from the University of Colorado Denver with a BS in Recording Arts and Music. My passion for the science behind recording and manipulating sound has driven me to experiment on the drum set, and while composing my own music. I am currently professionally performing with The Electro-Soul group Melody Lines who has amazing opportunities like opening for members of The Disco Biscuits, Pretty Lights, Lotus, String Cheese Incident, Particle, Phil Lesh Band, and Karl Denson's Tiny Universe. For me, enjoyment as well as developing proper, healthy technique is key. This means that student may have to do more gritty work than with other teachers, but this pays off as they get to tackle more challenging rep and ultimately can connect skills to repertoire more quickly. However, I always like to meet students where they're at. If they want to learn how to play their favorite pop song on piano, or want to audition for their local theater's musical theater production, my priority will always be teaching in ways that the student feels is relevant to their goals and interests. Lessons are catered to each students interests, goals, and musical tastes. Whatever style of music you choose to learn can be arranged in a manner that is approachable to any experience level and will in turn emphasize specific techniques and concepts needed to develop as a musician. Song choice is an integral part of the curriculum being the catalyst for the direction of each students lesson. The biggest goal of my lessons is to get my students playing first and foremost.
