I began teaching voice in 1998 and have had a few students ever since. I had a previous career in furniture conservation and taught classes in that field too. I teach in my home studio, or I go to students' homes, which ever works best. My students have ranged in age from 6 to 85. I find they make the best progress if they can make some time to practice regularly: I endeavor to ensure that the student has repertoire that they find interesting and fun, and that will stretch them. For beginners, I put a strong emphasis on the fundamentals of music, such as getting to know the staff, time signatures, how to construct a major scale, etc. I will also introduce the student to intervals, which are the basic building blocks of western music. The student will also begin basic ear training, by learning to recognize certain intervals by ear, and also learning to sing and play on their instrument when given a reference pitch. Read More

I am a motivated instructor who wants to bring the joy of music to my students. I graduated from Berklee College of Music with a Bachelor of Music in Performance. I have had some fantastic journeys so far as a musician performing all over the world since when I was young, and performing at Boston Symphony Hall was definitely the most memorable experience. Motivating students with my teaching artist skills, is one of my key point to increase the passion for music in the student. I also believe that singing is highly physical and I help all of my students with physical exercises to help them become more aware of their bodies and build strength in certain places while releasing others, especially in the belly and abdomen (a place singers often hold so much tension). These exercises are based mostly on Qi-Gong moves which also facilitate smooth, even breathing. My overall goal, of course, is for my students to have fun and be able to express themselves without any limits from unhealthy technique, and be able to share their gift with the world. Read More
