The bulk of my teaching experience comes from my college days where I taught secondary piano lessons to college undergraduates and children. My teaching style and methods were solidified in my graduate studies at Indiana University where I was an Associate Instructor of Piano. During this time, I taught group piano classes to music and non-music majors, private piano lessons to both graduate and undergraduate students, and worked as a counselor/practice coach for three summers at the prestigious piano summer festival Indiana University Piano Academy. I was blessed with many performance opportunities during college, including piano recitals, musical showcases, accompanying performers and chamber ensemble music. Not only do I teach at the student's pace, I have each student construct their own goal calendar to keep in my records as well as the student's home. When I was 8-years-old my father gave me his old guitar. From then on I spent most of my free time playing and learning music. I enrolled in structured lessons when I was 12 until I went to Berklee College of Music for a year's time. Afterwards I decided that I wanted to dedicate my spare time to music and not make a professional career out of it. I earned valuable skills while touring and teaching and found a niche while working with kids of which helped create my specialized children's teaching curriculum. Whether it's teaching children or adults, beginning classes start with basic snare rudimentary concepts with Stick Control and a Rudiment Dictionary.
