BA Music spring 2020 Old Dominion University
I am a student at Old Dominion University with only 2 French classes to go to graduate. I was a first chair clarinetist in middle school. I am currently playing tenor and Alto saxophones, drums, percussion, and singing through various projects. I am self taught on a very large variety of instruments such as violin, recorder, guitar, and cornet. My most unique instrument is the jaw harp of which I am a virtuoso. I compose electronic music as well as rap and sing. I am fluent at both reading and writing. I can write a simple melody or a full orchestra piece.
I have always loved to teach. I began teaching in elementary school in 6th grade, where I would help in kindergarten classroom as a mentor program. In the 10th grade I would often visit my 9th grade science teacher and help her with her class. At 17 I taught a couple adults to read. I worked for the Newport News Public Schools as a substitute teacher in 1998. As a parent I homeschooled one of my children. I often have to give quick lessons on jaw harp at performances. Teaching is simply part of my everyday life as I am a teacher's assistant for Norfolk Public Schools working with children that have special needs.
I teach students of all age ranges therefore i design lessons based on my students current level of skills. I have many band method books as well as a large library of song books. I have many instruments on hand that are in playable condition . These include: Clarinet, flute, tenor saxophone, alto saxophone, simple drum kit as well as washboard and other hand instruments, a violin, a mandolin, a variety of jaw harps, recorders, and much much more. I can teach theory, form, song structure electronic programs etc.
I am very passionate about music. I love to teach and pass along what i know so that others can continue to create music for profit and personal enjoyment. I am a very low pressure teacher. If you are not enjoying your time then no one is benefiting from the lessons. I use a marker board, books, a metronome, paper and pencils etc to tech lessons. I do not send home "homework" but i will assign practice exercises for students to do between classes and will check on the progress and results when we meet for our next lesson.

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
OkAre you sure that's your only availability? The more availability you easier it will be to arrange a teacher for you.
