Hailing from Austin, Texas, Adrian J. is a rising Junior Viola performance major at the Eastman School of Music Studying under Professor George Taylor. Adrian began studying viola in his freshman year of highschool at McCallum Fine Arts Academy under Martha Carapetyan; he later went on to study at the Interlochen Arts Academy in his senior year under the teaching of Renee Skerik. Although this is my first official teaching job, I began teaching back in 2011 during my freshman year of high school. I had the pleasure of conducting and teaching both concert and chamber orchestra. I then became a student assistant my senior year and was able to do one-on-one's with the younger students. For children, my foundational methods include Leonard, Krueger, Clarke, Arban, Reinhardt, Rizzetto, Pearson, and Rubank. Solo and ensemble repertoire is introduced at the appropriate time. Time is also spent on improvisation, writing original compositions, and learning music that the students have brought to the lesson. For adults, we focus on what students are interested in working on, regardless of their ability level. Many adults want to spend part of the lesson working with the foundational methods, and spend part of the lesson learning one or two pieces of music. Read More

Music is a passion of mine, and Im so thankful I have the opportunity to share it with others! In 2013 I graduated from Bryan College with a BS in Piano Performance. I was blessed with many performance opportunities during college, including piano recitals, musical showcases, accompanying performers and chamber ensemble music. Although I enjoy performing, teaching is my first passion.
