I started teaching private piano lessons to all ages and abilities when I was in college. I have experience with beginner level students ages 5-adult and intermediate level students ages 6-14. I have experience teaching traditional classical piano (reading sheet music), as well as pop piano (reading lead sheets). I work closely with the student (and/or their parent) to discuss their goals and aspirations for clarinet lessons. From these discussions I will develop personalized lesson plans to help them reach their goals. In all of my lessons I emphasize the use of fundamentals to develop technique. I teach Wunderkeys to pre-schoolers ages 4 5. This method gives them a head-start in math as well as patterning. I start beginner piano students (ages 6 and up) with Faber's Piano Adventures. I introduce intermediate students to Alfred's Premier Piano Course as this method starts them on solo repertoire. I believe in teaching music that the student wants to learn, whether that's the latest pop song or basic music theory which can be applied to any style. For my piano students, I prefer Alfred's piano curriculum. For my guitar students, I use Hal Leanord books. For my voice students, we work on whatever songs they want to learn or have assigned to them for a performance. For flute, I like Rubank method, but am open to other preferred methods as well.
