Instruments: Voice Music
Supportive, science based, creative and kind. In 2015 I discovered the McClosky Institute of Voice and the McClosky Voice Technique. This technique is based on applying vocal science (anatomy, physiology, acoustics, health, and psychology) to teaching and focuses on efficiency, that is, it helps coordinate all of the muscles of your body so that each part is doing its proper job with little, or no effort wasted. The result is complete relaxation and flow with speaking and singing. Read More
Instruments: Flute
I believe in being very structured with young students, as children thrive on structure. I give precise weekly practice assignments and expect the parents to be involved with their child's practicing. For adults, I like to have them set the tone as to what they want to work on, as adults have goals in ways that children do not. I would ask an adult student why they they had come to study flute with me and listen to what they wanted. Read More
Instruments: Piano Trumpet Trombone
For beginning brass players I generally start out with Hal Leonard's Essential Elements series of books. After going through that, with some other material on the side, such as performance pieces, etc, they would progress to the Arban book (at around high school age for the student who began in sixth grade, as I did). Instruments: Piano
I started to teach piano when I was in college, so I know how to communicate to students and parents, choose the right pieces, and tell them how to practice at home. In addition, I encourage students to perform and attend competitions to gain confidence and experience. Read More

I am a performer and composer with my Bachelor's in Music from The Boston Conservatory. I have performed flute and guitar in a variety of musical settings from orchestras, theater pits, rock bands, and jazz ensembles. I love working with students of all ages and skill levels and try to encourage an open attitude towards learning different types of music. Currently I have experience teaching beginner ukulele, electric guitar and flute. Read More
Instruments: Voice
I've taught voice at Northwest University for the past 5 years. In 2010, I joined the faculty of the Bellevue School of Music, and last fall began teaching at the Gene Nastri Community School of the Arts in Mukilteo. I also conduct a church choir. I believe strongly that it is important for anyone who sings to study classical technique, regardless of what style of singing they wish to do. It is the best way to maximize the potential of the voice, and to keep it healthy in the long run. Read More
Instruments: Flute
I welcome students of all ages and abilities into my studio. Lessons are structured around the student’s goals, whether to play professionally or as a hobby. Stylistic choices in musical expression and phrasing are taught by incorporating music theory, music history, and ear-training skills into lessons. Students learn to produce a beautiful tone and to express themselves freely. As an AmSAT certified Alexander Technique teacher, I firmly believe that the psychophysical mechanism is paramount to success in healthy music-making. Read More
