Although it is important that my students progress at their own pace, I suggest practicing as many 20 minute sessions possible daily, for research has shown that the mind can concentrate most clearly for that length of time. My lessons include Music Theory, Ear Training and Rhythmic Studies in order to save lots of time, by nurturing excellent Musicianship, in addition to learning the instrument, through practicing correctly. For beginning students of any age, I generally start with George Vance's first book of the Progressive Repertoire method. Students will work through this at a pace complementing their personal needs and abilities. If students are more advanced, they will start on the second or third book of the Vance series. In addition to exercises, these books contain many pieces that can be performed in recitals. As students progress, I will add in Francois Rabbath's Nouvelle Technique books for more studies and pieces. Read More

Each summer I volunteer at my local community music camp where I I teach a wide of variety of students who are touching an instrument for the very first time and students who simply want to improve on their skills. I tell students the same fundamental things that I think about while practicing which consists of regular practice and simply enjoying the music I’m playing.
