My teaching style consists of patience and positive energy, as well as having the lessons being interesting and fun. I love when students take initiative. practice is important in learning. I hold a high value on accuracy, then building speed to the desired ability. Everyone learns differently and I adapt my lessons based on the student. Everyone learns at their own pace, and will be a better student to be free of any time constraints on what is learned. Read More

My name is Daniel M. I'm originally from Valparaiso Chile, I study composition in Berklee College of Music with guitar as my principal instrument. I focus mainly on funk, rock, blues and a a big amount of Latin rhythms (Salsa, Merengue, Cumbia Bachata, etc). Im living currently in Roxbury and im willing to travel if my students can't arrive to my house. I've been teaching guitar for 8 years with great reviews from the beginning since i was playing in school bands so that encouraged me to pursue it as a career from an early stage of my life (16 years old) and i've always had a big passion for the academic world as a hole and i've always seen college as an intellectual hub that i wanted to be a part of. I try my best to lead all lessons with kindness and respect. If those foundations are there, I feel that is the best way to build trust with a student and motivate them to improve. I am very goal driven with my lessons, and want students to always be actively working towards both short term and long term goals while they practice. I also want to enforce the importance of repetition and consistency, as that is crucial for improvement on the instrument. Read More

My lessons for vocalists are divided into two sections: technique and repertoire. For singers, breath management skills are of primary importance as this directly affects intonation. I like to begin with Anne Peckham's The Contemporary Singer. My students can choose any songs they would like to sing while we work on musicianship skills including expression and lyrical phrasing. Singers who want to study jazz and improvisation use one or more of my pedagogical texts on scat singing. Read More

Simple. It’s all about the student. Every student is different. So having one teaching style may not work for everyone. I’m fortunate enough over16 years to understand every student is different. No one style fits all. I get students playing as quickly as possible. We live in an instant gratification period. Every month my students have a recital. From day one we establish reachable goals. Goals are essential. Read More
