I teach both voice and guitar. As an instructor of voice I start with Breathing exercises, posture, and ear training. I take methods from "The Singing Book" by Maribeth Dayme Cynthia Vaughn. With children, I gage how well their grasping the fundamentals before learning songs. Once we've gotten their we move forward to learning about different techniques. What I enjoy most is getting to know my student. Often times students show / tell me what their interested in learning, as each student is a different learner! Read More
Instruments: Voice Trumpet
My teaching style is one that is not used much at beginning levels but for me, that's why it works. Teaching a young student how to play the instrument by sound and not by reading notes allows them to use their imagination while playing. When students figure out for themselves, that is when the best kind of learning happens. Of course, this method relies on the student investing in themselves and actually practicing for at least an 30-60 minutes a day for beginners. Read More
Instruments: Cello
My teaching experience began while studying at Indiana University, as I had the incredible opportunity to study pedagogy under Susan Moses and Mimi Zweig. There I was able to develop my skills as a teacher, and nurture my passion for education. I am a firm believer that given an encouraging environment and repetitions, any student can succeed in anything! From the beginning, I instill an awareness that cello playing must incorporate the most natural physical motions to play with beautiful tone and ease. Read More

I teach students to transfer my extensive knowledge of music to anybody that is willing to learn. I started playing guitar when I was 12 years old. Later on in life, I started playing bass, banjo, ukulele and mandolin. I play in several different orchestras and bands. My orchestra playing involves a local theater company, as well as various high schools. I also perform regularly for Musicians on Call, a not-for-profit organization that brings the power of music to patients' bedsides in the Philadelphia area. Read More

My teaching experiance has been mainly one one one. I've never given group lessons mainly because you can't totally focus on the student when there are several people involved. The best teaching/learning situation is the individual lesson where the focus is on one person. All my lessons are with one individual. More than one creates distraction and breaks the contenuity of the learning experiance. My experiance has been with grade school students, College age, middle aged and also senior citizens. Read More

My musical lesson or lecture is a creative process where there is no teacher and students, but there are senior and younger colleagues who create in common this process of creativity. The creative growth of the student is defined not by quantity of the learnt homework, but by quality of employment and display of his creative activity in any process. I should always take into account interest of the student and direct him on his way, chosen by him: (classics or another stiles). Read More
Instruments: Piano Voice
A typical piano lesson will include work on technique, listening skills, sight-reading and music notation. More advanced students will learn the fundamentals of harmony. The listening skills are important because if the student enjoys what (s)he is hearing, (s)he will be more motivated to practice. The technique and theory work is important so that the student will be able to build a strong foundation in order to keep up with what they want to be hearing more of. Read More
