For beginning adults I like to pick some simple songs that resonate and work towards learning them. I believe strongly in the diversity of the student. I realize that not everyone likes books. I believe that setting goals and "deadlines" with the student, for example regarding the learning process of a piece, helps to improve better and faster, but also limits the frustration that an unsuccess can cause. I am always focused on how to make my lessons enjoyable, fun and useful. I was also already teaching privately due to demand from the members of of the Princeton and New Jersey Classical Guitar Societies. I was concentrating on classical students but also taught folk, pop, rock, and jazz styles. I did this until the age of 16, when I moved to NYC to begin my Bachelors studies at the Manhattan School of Music under the legendary Manuel Barrueco. I started teaching private piano lesson back in high school. At that time, I enjoyed teaching students as young as five years old and as old as 85. No matter the age, I felt then, and still today, that really taking the time to understand each individual student's interests greatly benefited my ability to be a sensitive, thoughtful, and successful teacher.
