Instruments: Piano Keyboard

I am familiar with most of the teaching methods available, so my choice of teaching method is tailored to the needs of each student. One student may be working with Schaum's Pre-A Book, while another might be starting out with Thompson's Teaching Little Fingers to Play. This is all to say that there isn't one method that is perfect for all students. My experience with so many approaches helps me to give my students the best possible learning experience. Read More

My teaching experience dates back to my first year in Yamatai. As a more advanced percussionist, I took it upon myself to assist my fellow new recruits with learning the material outside of regular practice times with the Musical Director. With percussion, we found that taking a piece and breaking it into small sections that were easily repeatable gave the best results. I took these techniques over to the drum set when the time came, and found ways to make simple drum rhythms more interesting and engaging. Read More

My teaching experience encompasses many areas of percussion. I've been teaching private drum lessons throughout my time in college, and also served as Percussion camp counselor at Mansfield. Further, I've also instructed marching bands and drum lines at the high school and college level. Read More

I really just want people to enjoy what their doing. I definitely have some skills to efficiently practice, because I dont think anyone wants to waste time. The best thing is when my students are invested in their own progress, because I can help provide the needed skills to grow at different paces. I am a bit more relaxed with students that just want to have a positive musical experience, but I also can be very specific with students that wish to go on and study or perform music professionally. I began teaching in 2010 as a private lesson instructor. In 2016, I began working for a teaching school in New York City. I have taught all ages of students, but find that I connect more thoroughly with students age 10 and up. I encourage my students to dig deep in their musical interests to find a sense of identity and place within the craft. Read More

As a recording artist and teacher, my main goal is to inspire others to follow their passion for music at whatever level that may be. My passion for music was cultivated by individuals who believed in my talents and drive for music. I make sure that I do the same for my students. My number one question to students is, what do you want to get out of lessons? By doing this, I am able to design an instruction plan tailored to each students needs. Read More
