For students that are new to music I usually start with Hal Leonard's Essential Elements, this book is really good to start to learn about music and the instrument, and then Suzuki method for repertoire. I am very passionate about drums and started teaching about 4years ago and I have helped many students get to where they want to get on their instrument.
