The goal of my instruction always is for the student to produce a rich, beautiful tone with the minimum physical and mental effort in any musical situation he or she may encounter. Every student is different, so all of my lessons will be tailored to fit the individual's needs based on his or her level of development. A Bachelor of Music obtained from Washburn University (Topeka, KS) and a Master of Music from Western Michigan University (Kalamazoo, MI). If a student isn't having fun learning the instrument then I am doing something wrong! Learning should be fun and a joy not a chore. I try to encourage the students to practice without being told to do so. With that comes a joy of doing it on your own and for themselves not for anyone else. I began teaching music at the age of sixteen, teaching students not much younger than me about a wide variety of subjects like music theory, rock electric bass, composition, classical upright bass, and jazz improvisation. While still in high school I was the assistant conductor for my schools string orchestra and ran a small jazz ensemble at the Richmond Youth Jazz Guild. Since coming to college I have continued to teach students in Philadelphia as well as in Amsterdam for a brief time, giving lessons on avant-garde improvisation and double bass technique. Read More

I'm a very passionate and invested artist that really enjoys watching his students grow and helping them achieve their goals. I just graduated from Temple University with my masters degree in Jazz Studies, but am versed in many styles of playing and composing. As a freelance trumpeter, I have played at venues all over the U.S. and multiple countries in Europe.
