For beginning students who are younger I typically start with Faber and Faber's Piano Adventures. If a student is older I will put them in the accelerated method or the adult method. I will sometimes supplement with Alfred's Premier series or Music Tree. Once a student has progressed to a certian level, I will introduce other piano literature to supplement the method book learning. I tend to set my expectations high for each student while also taking the time to learn each student's personality in order to help them meet those expectations. I have learned through my numerous years of teaching that every student learns at a different rate but they can all achieve success. I believe in making my students comfortable. I am a dedicated and passionate instructor who loves watching students improve and succeed. In 2015, I graduated from Michigan State University with a Bachelor of Music degree in Flute Performance. I attended Wright State University to earn my Master of Music degree in Flute Performance and worked as a graduate teaching assistant during my time there. I graduated from Wright State in 2017. For violin and viola lessons, I start my beginning students off with the violin/viola instrument hold as well as the bow hold. Once one has gotten the feel for holding the instrument as well as the bow, I teach the student the open strings of the instrument, followed by a one octave scale, with basic note reading exercises. Noah W. recently earned a masters degree in classical guitar performance at the University of Cincinnati (CCM), where he served as a teachers assistant. He also holds a bachelors in classical guitar performance from UC and an associates degree in music from Sinclair Community College. Noah mainly plays classical guitar but also has experience performing rock and pop.
