I teach from Alfred's Piano Course, but if my student has a piano book already, it is not a problem to teach from that series. I encourage each student to practice several times a week for as long as they can. I find that some students like to practice in one sitting, whereas others prefer to practice for 10-15 minutes before taking a break and then returning.
