For beginning students, I strive to teach the basics of music theory while learning the fundamentals of producing characteristic tone on their instrument. I typically start by working through the Essential Elements method book and introduce solos, ensembles, and orchestral excerps when appropriate. I am the cello professor at George Fox University and have a lively Suzuki Studio in West Linn, OR. I began teaching cello in high school in California. I have taught at the college level as a Teaching Assistant at the University of Washington where I taught undergraduate non-majors and string technique classes. I have also held a position as a professor at Edmonds Community College.
