I am a piano instructor that loves sharing my musical knowledge with students and watching them progress. I just recently graduated from the University of Alabama in early May with a Bachelor of Music Degree in Piano Performance. I have been studying piano for almost twelve years. During my time as an undergraduate, I performed in recitals, taught private lessons to students, and accompanied for vocalists and instrumentalists. I think that is very important that the students enjoy playing their instrument. To achieve that, it is important that each student progresses at their own pace. Using their strengths and helping them get better at their weaknesses is one of my main goals as a teacher. I try to find what inspires them to keep the lessons interesting and fun. I began teaching bass lessons when I was in high school. I taught bass for 11 years as an adjunct instructor at the University of Alabama in Birmingham. I also worked as a clinician at the UAB Jazz Summit. Many of my students have gone on to play professionally and a few have gone on to become music teachers themselves. For beginning students, I typically start with the basic essentials needed to get a feel for the instrument, and to read music. Then once they have that accomplished, we move straight on to learning their favorite songs as this is when the most progress can be gained. For beginning students, I use the first Essential Element book to introduce the first instrument and theory concepts. Once students have progressed past this book, I use the Tune a Day series along with the accompanying scale book. This book introduces students to solo and duet pieces worthy of a recital performance. Once they have reached the third book and are progressing through etudes, students begin working on individual solo repertoire pieces. Read More

As a musician, there is nothing more rewarding than sharing my love and knowledge for music with others. My primary focus is to make sure the student is enjoying the lessons and learning the style of music they desire to learn.
