This measurable progression of accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. For beginning students who have never touched music in their lives (mostly children), I start out with the Hal Leonard's Essential Elements book of their chosen instrument. From there, we learn how to read music, play in time, and play the instrument itself. Once the student feels comfortable with the practices in the book, I move on to introduce solo repertoire to prepare for a recital. I continue my training on all my instruments and I am considering becoming a music professor at a university eventually and possibly. I have a history with several students from ages 4-28.
