I have been playing guitar for approximately 15 years.  Over those years I have played many different styles, playing different instruments in different bands, from open mics to big venues all over the country.  I love playing music and love helping others discover their love as well.  One note worthy teaching gig I’ve had was working for a company in Nassau County, NY teaching guitar and music theory to developmentally challanged adults in a day program.  There is no musician I will turn away; my focus is guitar, but I have many instruments and can introduce the basics for many such as drums, violin, viola, cello, piano, bass guitar, as well as composition and arrangment.  I have worked with many bands, ensembles, and chamber groups, and would love the opportunity to help you achieve your musical goals.  Whatever your musical interests, I'll help you get to where you want to go. I teach students how to play, as well as, read music.  I teach a variety of techniques and styles of music using books and making up lessons for my students.  I teach my students at any age how to play the set, along with snare drum techniques, and play with songs. For beginning students who are children, I typically start with Vic Firth books. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce more complicated styles and techniques that are appropriate for their ability. Read More

I have performed professionally in opera, operetta, and oratorio across the United States and Europe. I have studied vocal performance at University of Missouri-Kansas City Conservatory of Music, the Mozarteum and Universitaet Salzburg in Salzburg, Austria, and the University of Maine-Orono. I have a BA in German Language & Literature from UMKC, an MS in Organizational Psychology from from UHartford, and also teach foreign languages privately. Each student learns at his or her own pace, and as a result I dislike forcing all students into the same step-by-step regimen. I find that laying out preplanned expectations and milestones at the outset is often more for the teachers benefit than the students. Individualizing lesson plans and progress trajectories is much more work on my end, but I find the result much more rewarding for both instructor and student. Read More
