I started teaching private lessons at the age of 15. I am classically trained but do enjoy Celtic and fiddling music as well. I had the opportunity to voluntarily teach violin and cello at community center in 2017. I have also taught Suzuki group classes as well. I've helped new beginner students start their flute exploration with the correct embouchure, posture, and technique right from the beginning. I've worked with students who have been on their own for a while, helping to correct any bad habits that had snuck in. I've helped students reinforce the technical basics of scales, daily exercises, breathing, and long tones so that their music soars. My students have gone from 5 year old beginners to very accomplished piano and guitar players. The student gets to pick the first two songs of the lesson, and I pick the next 2. That way, they get a lot of choice for the lessons. With the pandemic, the students have been very consistent with not missions lessons, which is pushing their progress as well.
