Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! I tailor things to each students age, level and goals. I think anyone is able to learn an instrument and understand that we each learn and approach things differently. Some students are more oral or visual learners. I've been playing bass for 13yrs and guitar for about 9yrs. I started out learning to play bass in the church and took lessons from the Pastor's son for a few months. Eventually became self-taught and learned from bassists that I admired and formed my own style of playing. I went on to teach friends, family, and church folk what I know about bass and music. I started teaching private lessons at the age of 15. I am classically trained but do enjoy Celtic and fiddling music as well. I had the opportunity to voluntarily teach violin and cello at community center in 2017. I have also taught Suzuki group classes as well. I like to think I'm a laid-back kind of guy, though I can get loud and boisterous sometimes when a student figures something hard out. I wonder sometimes if I don't get more excited about a student's breakthrough than he does! My wife sometimes tells me I have no "indoor voice," lol. I don't give grades (except for my college students, because I have to), but if I did, the grade would be either "A" or "I," as in incomplete, as in do it over until it's great. Read More
