I was a percussion major in college then spent a few years in Austin Texas traveling with country, rock and blues bands. Have played on over 20 records. I have been in the top auditioned ensemble of NMSU for all 4 years and section leader for 2. I have been the president of NMSU Chapter American Choral Directors Association and president of NMSU Chapter National Association for Music Educators. My first contact with music was during my early childhood, when I took piano, guitar and violin lessons. Growing up, I was always active playing with several youth orchestras and various ensembles, ranging from classical to popular and folk music. I studied piano and composition at the California State University, Sacramento, where I had the opportunity to study with world class musicians and be part of cutting edge orchestras and choirs; during my college years I went on several tours with a choir, performing in venues such as Carnegie Hall, N.Y I currently perform as pianist and accompanist with Opera singers from the area, and also compose upon comissions. After college, I taught piano, guitar, and general music as a volunteer teacher in rural Malaysia for one year. In graduate school, I instructed two courses of ear training every semester. My experience in teaching has been mainly focused on voluntary work, in teaching close friends, family and friends. I have always wanted to teach the joys of Classical Music to all ages.
