I have been teaching private voice since 1991.  Along with teaching privately out of my home, over the years I have served on faculty as an adjunct voice professor at the college and university level, and have taught private voice in school districts for their junior high and high school choirs.  My own children study with me and are performing regularly in musical theater productions and choirs.  I love helping singers discover their beautiful, God-given singing voice and watching it blossom as they consistently practice and apply the techniques. I believe in learning the fundamentals but I believe that experience should be enjoyable. That's why we "play" music in the first place! This can mean different things to different students but a focus on positive reinforcement and encouragement toward specific musical goals will always be the guiding factor in my approach. I served as Band Leader (lead musician) at Destiny Metropolitan Worship Church, a 6,000 member congregation, in Atlanta for 6 years. My duties during that time included leading, teaching, and shepherding a 7 piece band through baptism, communion, regular services, funerals, weddings, early morning prayer, weekly rehearsals, special rehearsals, etc. My duties during the holiday season(s) inclusive of Christmas, Thanksgiving, and Easter also included providing musical accompaniment for plays, special selections, and more. Im a devoted music educator who cares about my students personal growth and development as musicians. In 2010 I graduated from Evangel University with a Bachelors of Music Education degree with a concentration in strings. I have performed all over the U.S. in my collegiate touring orchestra and even had the opportunity to go to Europe and perform there as well. I have also been selected twice to perform with the Trans Siberian Orchestra as a part of their pit orchestra and have been involved as an active musician within my community. Read More
