Instruments: Violin Cello Viola Ukulele
Everything depends on what instrument the student is learning. For violin, viola, and cello lessons I typically use a few different method books and handout sheets for the first few lessons, and then switch to using Suzuki books once the basic concepts have been mastered. For ukulele students I try to find out what the student is interested and tailor their lessons to include the types of songs they want to learn to play. Read More

I learned very early on in my teaching experience that every student is different, and the lesson should be personalized to fit their needs. For true beginners, the basics are always established, and are frequently reminded; how to hold the drumstick, how to get the correct motion when striking the drum, and proper playing zones. Stick Control, Alfred's Beginning Drum Set Book, and The All American Drummer are three versatile books that my students will be exposed to, no matter what level of player they are. Read More

I am a passionate musicians who lives for sharing my music, both on stage and in the classroom. I graduated from Cornell University in 2016 with a degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering, and during my time at Cornell I was a performing member of the taiko ensemble, Yamatai. As a member of Yamatai, I also served as Training Officer, which gave me the responsibility of teaching all new recruits our material. Read More
Instruments: Piano Guitar Keyboard
For a typical lesson Ill teach half basics and theory and the other half songs or anything the students interested in. I am adamant that the student's are practicing at least 30 mins a day. For guitar I strongly recommend using Hal Leonards Guitar method books even if were only working out of it for a quarter of the lesson. For piano I recommend a Hal Leonard book without question. I do pass some handouts of pieces, exercises, etc that I feel are worthy for the student. Read More

I have certain methods that are useful from beginners to advanced students. I always meet a student where they are at and then guide them to gain the skills that they require for the goals they want to achieve. I don't subscribe to the notion that one MUST read music to play music - that is not how most of the world works, but I am a large advocate of being literate. Read More
Instruments: Piano Voice
The key to my successful teaching technique is to understand that we are all individuals with various tastes in styles of music. Therefore, I allow students to discover their own styles through exploration of an array of styles rather than insisting that they stick to one specific genre. This and the inclusion of music theory adds to the individual becoming a well-rounded musician. When a student is doing what they enjoy, then they are more likely to continue learning. Read More

I began teaching in 2010 as a private lesson instructor. In 2016, I began working for a teaching school in New York City. I'm now based in Northeastern Pennsylvania and looking to cultivate a community of musicians through a shared love of the craft. I have taught all ages of students, but find that I connect more thoroughly with students age 10 and up. I encourage my students to dig deep in their musical interests to find a sense of identity and place within the craft. Read More
