I took guitar with Michael Engberg there for two years and also took fundamentals of music, music business, music technology, and a song writing class. I transferred over to Metropolitan State University of Denver and began my Bachelors degree sequence under the wing of Alex Komodore. I graduated from Metro in May 2014 with a Bachelors Degree in Classical Guitar Performance, and the experience thus far has been amazing. It is important to install a sense of confidence and feeling of progression when teaching, so I make sure to acknowledge every student's progress along with the desired improvements. Everyone can improve at every skill level, so I believe it is important to let the student know the amount of progress they've achieved from hard work. At the start of the lesson, I will emphasize tone and air control which I've found makes a huge difference as a warm up. The primary books I will work out of are Hal Leonard's Essential Elements. As students progress and I feel that they have a handle on the basics, I will slowly start to incorporate other repertoire that will be exciting to play and perform.
