Unsatisfied with working in this field I went on to get two more degrees at UCSB, bachelor of arts and music performance and composition. For beginners, I start with Suzuki school violin and guitar books. Once the student has a grasp of the fundamentals I introduce pieces or may have the student pick out a pice they'd like to work on. For more intermediate players I generally try to help them with music they may already be working on and give them studies to practice relevant techniques. I have been playing Flute for almost 40 years, Bassoon and Saxophone for 35.  I have at one time or another played with some of the world's best ensembles (i.e. The Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra) and in some of the very best venues in with world (i.e. Royal Albert Hall in London).  My training was entirely in classical music, in the last 7 or 8 years, I have branched out into Rock and Roll, Blues and Latin Jazz.
