I have taught and performed for many Berklee Summer Programs including Basslines, Vocal Workshop, Stage Performance Workshop and Five Week. For all students I try to incorporate all elements of music by including appropriate amounts music history and theory into my lessons. For beginners, I tend to utilize Trevor Wye exercises, and slowly incorporate small musical pieces. Although tedious, I believe that scales and etudes make students technically and musically proficient. I therefore include them in my lessons, but ensure the students are gaining the benefit of these exercises. Because I teach only part-time, I have a limited number of students so I'm able to create custom lesson plans for each individual. My goal for a first meeting with any student is to get to know the student. I want to know what music the student is into, what they want to focus on, why they're taking lessons and what their goals are.
